SJW Food Pantry
|
The Food Pantry, located in the Parish Center, is a supplementary source for those in temporary need, and also for the working poor. Parishioners and other community churches and organizations support the pantry by donating items needed. Items can be dropped off at the Parish Center during the week or in the basket located in the back of church during weekend liturgies. We are a client choice pantry. The Hunger Committee participants organize and stock the pantry on a weekly basis. When necessary, we supplement the pantry with food purchases from donations or from the Human Development budget. Children's Christmas Bazaar
Children, ages 4 to 12, from the Pantry and both parishes are invited to come and purchase a gift for their parents/ grandparents. They spend a afternoon with us. We have a story, lunch, shopping and wrapping of the gifts, crafts and cookie decorating. The cost is $1.00 per gift purchased. The program goes from 10:30 to 1:30. It is a good time for parents to go shopping for their children without them!!! |
Holiday BasketsAt Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter we ask our parishioners to contribute food that will provide a complete festive meal. The baskets are then distributed to families in need from our Liverpool area. We also provide baskets for some families in the City of Syracuse as designated by agencies that offer assistance. Approximately 150-200 baskets are prepared each holiday season. Volunteers are always needed to help fill these baskets. Contact Jennifer 315-457-6060 or email jbrwoodburn@gmail.com

Reverse CollectionsEach year on the Feast of Epiphany, in cooperation with the Liturgy Planning Committee, we ask parishioners to help us support Jail Ministry, Dorothy Day House, Oxford Inn, Sarah House, and the Samaritan Center by bringing specific items (i.e., baby clothes, cleaning supplies) to our weekend liturgies. Help is always needed in collecting and distributing the items.
